BARCELONA — Introducing the new evolution, Honor has officially announced at MWC 2026 that its Robot Phone is leaving the concept phase and is going to become a reality. The company had declared that the device would be commercially available in the second half of 2026, first to be sold in the Chinese market. In an attempt to bring AI to physical form, CEO James Li referred to the device as a new breed of smartphone, and one that provides AI with a body beyond the passive display.
The phone has a motorized camera arm that is 200MP and is integrated into an ultra-compact, 4DoF (four-degrees-of-freedom) gimbal system. It is a robotic component that can physically be extended off of the chassis to follow the subjects in real-time, as well as 180-degree SpinShots of the camera, and offer gimbal-level video stabilization. Honor collaborated with professional film brand ARRI to sharpen the image, in order to strike a balance between amateur smartphone videos and professional narratives.
In addition to photography, the “Robot Phone” applies Embodied AI to communicate with the surroundings by means of physical gestures. The camera is a robotic head which possesses the ability to nod, shake as well as dance to the beat of music. The arm will automatically spin during video calls to keep the user in the frame, whilst the AI may even analyze your clothes or your environment to provide you with feedback in real-time. Although the pricing is yet to be announced, the device comes as a flagship of the highest order to compete with the high-end models of Samsung and Apple.
